“The preposition ‘AT’ is most commonly asked in competitive exams, it is asked generally in fillers, paragraph fillers and in spotting error, confusion arises  when we don't have an idea to use it. in this blog we will learn the characteristics of "at" let's understand it by step by step.

The formula always applies when prepositions are used in the sentence,

The formula is Preposition + Noun or pronoun
Noun always remains same but pronoun is always in objective case, like me, us, him, her, it, them and you.

Ex; I am talking to him.
Ex; she bought a gift for me.
Ex; They always discuss with her.
Ex; To him, nothing is impossible.



  • At for place 
At is commonly used to indicate  an exact place.


Ex; she is standing at the door.
Ex; they were meeting at the restaurant.
Ex ; I am at home.
Ex; Father is at the office.

  • At lunch(12 to 2)

Ex; we will discuss everything at breakfast.
Ex: At lunch, i prefer dal and chawal.
Ex;  i think, meeting will be organized at dinner.




 

  • Before name of festivals.
Generally either of two prepositions comes before the name of festivals. first At which comes before name of festivals but the logic is (same day of festival)  is found in the sentence then "At" comes before.

At + The name of festivals

but another logic is if discuss The duration of festivals ( it take days) then "On" is placed before the name of festivals

On + The name of festivals

Ex: we burn crackers at Diwali.

Ex: we worship the goddess Laxmi at Diwali.

Ex: children take the blessing of their elders at Diwali.

Ex: many brands offer 70 % flat discount on Diwali.

Ex: they were going their hometown on Diwali.



 

  • Before am and pm.
The clock has two ways of expressing time,
The first o'clock time which always either of am and pm and the second is hours, if o'clock time comes then "At" comes before, and for Hour time "In" comes before,


Ex: All the classes start at 8 am.
Ex; Movie will start at 10 am.
Ex; I will catch you in two hours.
Ex; He will be back in 5 hours

Non-continuous verbs   Some verbs can not be used in continuous tense because such verbs are not used in the ING form. Similar verbs are called non-continuous verbs. Non-continuous verbs includes these characteristics (1) verbs that use thinking (2) verbs that show possession (3) verbs that reflect emotion, mental state, and condition (4) Verbs that reflect perception. Non continuous verb में शामिल होती है ये विशेषताएं होती हैं (1)  ऐसी क्रियाओं जो सोचने मे प्रयोग होती है (2) ऐसी क्रियाएं जो आधिकार दर्शाती हो (3) ऐसी क्रियाएं जो भावना, मानसिक दशा, और दशा को दर्शाती हो (4) ऐसी क्रियाएं जो जो धारणा को दर्शाती हो! AS, WHEN AND WHILE,( THESE THREE WORDS HELP TO EXPRESS SIMULTANEOUS ACTION)

There are many actions that occur at the same time that we have to use as, when and while to narrate them,,,, As, when and while, they are called  conjuction which are used to add sentences. Actions that occur at the same time are also called simultaneous action. While , While is used to indicate simultaneous long action, while using while we should keep in mind that the time in both sentences should be the same.
