CLOZE TEST / RAPID FILLER: Types, Rules, Tricks & Questions for Competitive Exams

Cloze test or rapid filler commonly asked questions in the competitive exams, like in SSC, BANKING EXAMS, NDA, and other competitive exams. generally students faced problem to solve such questions, here i give some points which help you to solve, but keep in mind that practice is only way to make such questions easier.

1. Types of fillers

There are four types of fillers, single filler, double fillers, paragraph fillers, and story fillers,
every filler has own way to solve it,  

 

 
(A) Single filler ; Single filler is just a common sentence where you fill the correct option by judging the theory of elimination and according to the parts of speech and tenses.

Ex; A boy is _____ money to buy a new mobile.

    1.  Need
    2. Needs
    3. Needed
    4. Needing
    5. None of these

(B) Double filler ;   Double filler is just a common sentence where you fill the correct option by judging the theory of elimination and according to the parts of speech and tenses and the depth of vocabulary but it is easier than others because if you get answer of any one then it give surety of second.


Ex; She  ______ where she is _______.
    1. Deserves, now
    2. Capable of, then
    3. Able to, till
    4. Efficient, yesterday
    5. none of these

(C) paragraph fillers ; paragraph is commonly asked in each and every competitive exams but by changing its name, like comprehension fillers, SSC MTS, SSC CHSL,SSC CGL and also Delhi CPO, cloze test in banking exams and rapid fillers in CAT, CLAT and many more exams.


(D) Story fillers ; Is kind of paragraph which generally asked in academic exams and board exams.

2. Improve your reading skill,

    • First of all you have to keep in mind that to solve this, you have to improve your reading skill, if your reading skills are not good, then you will always face difficulty in solving it, then, I would suggest you that you start from today.

3. Aware yourselves of 8 parts of speech of English grammar; The other important thing is that you should have knowledge of parts of speech, as I told you earlier that there are 8 parts of speech in English like NOUN, PRONOUN, ADJECTIVE , VERB, ADVERB, PREPOSITION, CONJUNCTION and INTERJECTION, you should have complete knowledge about them.

4. Knowledge of tenses playing a impactful role;  Tenses are kinds of formats, where you learn 12 formats, which make us able to understand how parts of speech work in the sentence & what is needed before or after, it is really help to solve cloze test. 

 


5.Having the idea of using words;  And at the last but most important, it is very important to have knowledge of the words, such as how many forms of the verb are there and how to use them.

 SEE, LOOK, WATCH, STARE GAZE, PIP, AND OBSERVE means to 'see ' but it cannot be used in the same sense.

SEE;  it stands for normal way if you have eyes.

LOOK;  it stands for pointing persons or things.

WATCH;  it stands for the meaning continue watching like movie, games and serial. 

 PIP; stands for hiding yourself and see of someone.  

STARE and GAZE without dropping eyelid.

OBSERVE; it stands for days

For example :- due to covid 19 all cinema halls are closed, and now movies are being released on OTT platform, but still I never miss - - - - - - movie.

NON - CONTINUOUS VERB

Non-continuous verbs   Some verbs can not be used in continuous tense because such verbs are not used in the ING form. Similar verbs are called non-continuous verbs. AS, WHEN AND WHILE,( THESE THREE WORDS HELP TO EXPRESS SIMULTANEOUS ACTION)

There are many actions that occur at the same time that we have to use as, when and while to narrate them,,,, As, when and while, they are called  conjuction which are used to add sentences. Actions that occur at the same time are also called simultaneous action. While , While is used to indicate simultaneous long action, while using while we should keep in mind that the time in both sentences should be the same.
