Words keep importance in every language, every word has own definition and it is used according to its definition.
Today we will learn about such words which are used according to their definition.
First of all, we talk about HEAR and LISTEN, these are two words that are used in hindi meaning "सुनना", but the definition of using them is different.
HEAR, is the ordinary word that has a different way of using, "HEAR" is used for all the things you hear with your open ear.
Let's understand by examples,
Ex:- She heard him talking that he would not support her.
Ex:- I couldn't hear due to lots of noise.
Ex:- They said that they didn't hear what i was saying them.
LISTEN , on the other hand, " listen" is used to describe things that should be heard carefully.
Let's understand it through examples,
Ex:- I couldn't hear you because I was listening to the speech of my favourite leader.
Ex:- listen to me, otherwise I will throw you out.
Ex:- Don't forget to listen to him when he will try to make you understand.
There are other words that we always make a mistake in using them, these words are SEE, WATCH, AND LOOK.
Let us first know about SEE, if your eyes are open and you can see something, then use SEE.
Ex :- I saw you telling him not to come today.
Ex:- She has seen me talking to them.
but if you are forced to see something, then use LOOK.
Ex:- Look at the painting carefully.
Ex:- Look at the birds, flying in sky.
WATCH, is used when something is used to watch in long duration, such as movie, match, serials and etc.
Ex:- I was watching a movie when you called me.
Ex:- They are wasting their time watching movies.
