USE OF "IF" ( if is known as a conjuction but it works as a conditional conjuction)

There are some sentences which cannot be spoken in the common language or which have to take help of imaginary sentences,  such sentences are explained by "IF". 




Those sentences which are written or spoken with the help of "if" , are called conditional sentences or hypothetical sentences.

Conditional sentences or hypothetical sentences are of three types. 

FIRST CONDITIONAL SENTENCE. 

If two sentences are spoken one after the other in future and the second function is dependent on the first sentence, then such sentences are written or spoken with the help of "if" .

We use this format to speak or write this type of sentences. 




FIRST SENTENCE 
IF + SUBJECT + V1ST + OBJECT, 

SECOND SENTENCE 
SUBJECT + WILL/SHALL + VERB 1ST + OBJECT. 

Ex :- If he invites me, I will attend his party. 

Ex :- If she sings a song, we shall clap for her. 

Ex :- If he teaches her, she will learn english. 

Ex :- If it rains, she will take umbrella. 

SECOND CONDITIONAL SENTENCE. 

 Note :- If sentence is spoken or written in the past simple tense ,  then this format is used. 



FIRST SENTENCE. 

IF + SUB + VERB 2ND + OBJ. 

SECOND SENTENCE. 

SUB + WOULD + VERB 1ST + OBJ. 

Ex:- If he had a book, she would give to you. 

Ex :- If she asked me, I would help her. 

Ex :- If I had a car, I would drop you at your college. 


THIRD CONDITIONAL SENTENCE. 

Note :- If  sentence is spoken or written in the past perfect tense , then this format should be used.

FIRST SENTENCE. 

IF + SUB + HAD + VERB 3RD + OBJ.

SECOND SENTENCE.

SUB + WOULD HAVE + VERB 3RD + OBJ.

Ex :- He had called me up, I would have informed him.

Ex :-  If she had worked hard, she would have passed.

NON - CONTINUOUS VERB

Non-continuous verbs   Some verbs can not be used in continuous tense because such verbs are not used in the ING form. Similar verbs are called non-continuous verbs. Non-continuous verbs includes these characteristics (1) verbs that use thinking (2) verbs that show possession (3) verbs that reflect emotion, mental state, and condition (4) Verbs that reflect perception. AS, WHEN AND WHILE,( THESE THREE WORDS HELP TO EXPRESS SIMULTANEOUS ACTION)

There are many actions that occur at the same time that we have to use as, when and while to narrate them,,,, As, when and while, they are called  conjuction which are used to add sentences.
