LET'S START TO UNDERSTAND THE SUPERFLUOUS || THE MOST COMPETITIVE EXAMS QUESTIONS BASED ON THIS TOPIC

The English language is the only terminology where every word has importance, whether it is written or spoken, if such words are used in your writing or speaking, which is not needed in the sentence, then the sentence is evaluated wrong.

If such words are used in a sentence that is not needed, then such words are called superfluous expressions.

It can also be understood that if two words with the same meaning are used in the sentence, then such words are called superfluous.

Questions related to superfluous expressions are asked in the competitive exam, if you want to solve the questions related to them, then you have to follow these rules.

(1) First you read the whole sentence thoroughly.
(2) If such words come in the sentence which gives the same meaning, just underline them.

(3) Now one of the underlined words will be right and the other wrong, now the question comes up that which word is wrong and which is correct, then the answer is the first word will be right and the second will be wrong.

Let's understand these points through examples.
Ex:- she forbade the students not to make a noise in the class.

[ In this statement "forbade" and" not to" convey the same meaning, it means then this sentence is considered wrong.]

This sentence should be,
She forbade the students to make a noise in the class.

Ex:- Mrs.Sharma cousin sister of the M.P said that she surely contest the upcoming election.

[ In this statement 'cousin' and 'sister' convey the same meaning, it means then this sentence is considered wrong.]

This sentence should be like,
Mrs.Sharma cousin of the M.P said that she surely contest the upcoming election.

Ex:- Suppose if, you are the prime minister of India what would you do then.

[ In this statement 'suppose' and 'if' convey the same meaning, which means then this sentence is considered wrong. ]

Suppose, you are the prime minister of India what would you do then.

Ex:- My mother requested me to repeat the question again.

[ In this statement 'requested' and 'again' convey the same meaning, which means then this sentence is considered wrong.]

This sentence should be,
