THE USE OF (TO) IN ENGLISH GRAMMAR!!! To is used in different meanings in sentences but its main purpose is to connect words.

Preposition is an important part in English grammar because they are used to connect words or NOUN and PRONOUN, but when we are talking about preposition, there are some prepositions that are used the most in English grammar, and "TO" one of them.

These are some questions which are always  in the mind of children but they do not get the proper answers to these questions.
Today, through this blog, I have tried to solve such questions.

What is the use of to in English grammar?  What is the use of preposition to?  How to use to ?  How do you use to in a sentence?

These five rules make you aware how to use to or how to use in a sentence.

Rule first - :
There are some sentences where to is used instead of using from, if we use from , then sentence will be considered wrong.
Ex-: Raja harishchandra always speaks truth to the people. (right)

If this sentence was written like this then this sentence would be wrong.
Ex-: Raja harishchandra always speaks truth from the people. (wrong)

Ex-: I said to him. (right)
But if this sentence was written like this,
Ex-: I said from him. (wrong)

Second rule-: To is used for directions.
Ex-: She is going to school.
Ex-: Turn to the left or turn to the right.

Third rule - : To is put before INFINITIVE or it can be said that INFINITIVE is recognized only by using ' to'.
INFINITIVE can be understood from this format.
TO + FIRST FORM OF VERB.

For example - :
To sing, to call, to play, to drink, to eat and etc.

But there are some verbs with which to is not used.
These are those verbs with which to is not used.
NEED NOT, DARE NOT, MAKE, LET, BID, WATCH, KNOW, OBSERVE, SHOULD, MUST, WOULD, MAY, MIGHT, CAN, COULD, AND ETC.

Ex-: let me go.

Ex-: let him talk.

Ex-: let her sing a song.

Ex-: She will watch movie.

Ex-: She bade him go.

Ex-: All the candidates must answer at least five out of ten questions.

Ex-: She may call you..

Ex-: He can do anything for her.

Note - : There are some TRANSITIVE VERBS followed by OBJECT and then TO + FIRST FORM OF VERB is used.
These are those  transitive verbs,
INVITE, REQUEST, ADVISE, TELL, ALLOW, PERMIT, ORDER, and etc.

Ex-: you should allow me to handle the situation.

Ex-: She has permitted me to investigate this case.

Ex-: She invited me to dance with her.

Fourth rule - : To is used to indicate the remaining time.
Ex-: 20 minutes to 10.

Ex-:it is 40 minutes to start the game.

Ex-: it is two days to sunday.

Fifth rule - :
There are some sentences where to is used instead of using towards.

Ex-: Dog is always loyal to its own master.

Ex-: All the students are sincere to their study.

Sixth rule - :
To helps to express views or thoughts.

Ex-: To him, everything is fair in love and war.

Ex-: To me, nothing is impossible.

Ex-: To her, money is everything.

I hope you have got answers to all the questions you had about preposition to like what is the use of preposition to?  How to use?  Or How do you use to in a sentence?
