THESE RULES MUST BE KEPT IN THE MIND WHILE USING "VERB".


Knowledge of VERB is very important to learn English, if you do not know about VERB or have incomplete knowledge about VERB, then you can never speak or write correct English.

To explain the Verb in an easy way, you have to understand the subject as well as you have to understand how many types of Subject are there.

Subjects are of two types, either the subject is called singular or they are called plural. If the singular subject is used in the sentence, then singular verb is used with the singular subject, same as if the plural subject is used in the sentence then plural verb is used.,,,,

Ex:- She is singing a song on the stage.

Ex :- He was playing cricket with his friends.

Ex :- They are studying at home.

Ex:- We were hiding ourselves.


It has been proved from the examples given, that singular verb is used with singular subject and plural verb is used with plural subject.

Let us now know such interesting rules that will help you understand the verb.



(1). If two singular subject  are connected by AND then plural verb is used with them. 

Ex:- India and pakistan were played well. 

Ex:- Geeta and sita are supporting with each other. 

Ex:- Nancy and wisely are sisters. 


(2). If two singular noun point to the same person, then the singular verb is used with them.

Ex:- My brother and wellwisher is submitting for his upcoming project today. 

Ex:- My mother and  motivater has taken decision to  my career. 


(3). If two subjects express the same thinking, then singular verb is used with them.

Ex:- Pulse and rice is my favourite food. 




(4). If two singular subject are joined by either - or and neither - nor, then singular verb is used with them.

Ex :- Either she or I  was mistaken them.

Ex :- Neither he nor I am going to meet her.

Ex :- Either she or I am going to sing a song on the stage.


(5). Either, neither, each, every one, none, everybody, somebody, anybody, nobody, everyone, someone, anyone, no one, many a must be followed by a singular verb. 

Ex :- Neither of the two principles was looking after his college well. 

Ex :- Somebody was knocking the door at mid night. 

Ex:- Nothing is impossible. 




(6). When words are connected to a singular subject by "with" ,
"together with" , "in addition to" , "as well as" , "including with" , " also"  "including with" 
Then singular verb is used with them. 

Ex :- Ritu as well as some of her friends has fallen in love with sonu who is the eldest son of an S. D. O. 

Ex :- Ram together with his friends is raising their voice against the management.

NON - CONTINUOUS VERB

Non-continuous verbs   Some verbs can not be used in continuous tense because such verbs are not used in the ING form. Similar verbs are called non-continuous verbs. Non-continuous verbs includes these characteristics (1) verbs that use thinking (2) verbs that show possession (3) verbs that reflect emotion, mental state, and condition (4) Verbs that reflect perception. Non continuous verb में शामिल होती है ये विशेषताएं होती हैं (1)  ऐसी क्रियाओं जो सोचने मे प्रयोग होती है (2) ऐसी क्रियाएं जो आधिकार दर्शाती हो (3) ऐसी क्रियाएं जो भावना, मानसिक दशा, और दशा को दर्शाती हो (4) ऐसी क्रियाएं जो जो धारणा को दर्शाती हो! (1) verbs that use in thinking:-  think, know, mean, mind, remember, suppose, etc . (2) verbs that show possession :-  own, have, belong, comprise, possess, contain, consist, and etc. (3) verbs that reflect emotion, mental state, and condition :-  believe, like, dislike, love, adore, want, wish, desire, hate, agree, trust, imag...

AS, WHEN AND WHILE,( THESE THREE WORDS HELP TO EXPRESS SIMULTANEOUS ACTION)

There are many actions that occur at the same time that we have to use as, when and while to narrate them,,,, As, when and while, they are called  conjuction which are used to add sentences. Actions that occur at the same time are also called simultaneous action. While , While is used to indicate simultaneous long action, while using while we should keep in mind that the time in both sentences should be the same. Ex:- While they were playing cricket, I was studying.  Ex:- I am teaching you while you are disturbing me.  Ex:- I made him understand while he  looked at them.  WHEN,  When is also used to describe simultaneous long action, using when, we also have to keep in mind that time should be same in the both sentences.
