NOUN ( "NOUN" is the most common topic in english, there are 8 parts of speech in english and each and every part is important but (NOUN) is most important topic in the rest of parts of speech, what is Noun? How Noun can be identify? what are types of nouns? all the answers are here. )
Without noun English can not imagine, noun has own characteristics which make it readable and in many competitive exams, Noun based questions have been asked frequently.
Definition of Noun,
"Noun is the name of things".

Everything is a noun that can be seen, Everything that can be touched, is called noun, Everything that is felt, is called noun.
Look at the example,
Ex:- Ram is a boy.

Ex:- The prime minister addresses the whole nation on 15th of August.

Noun has five backbones, which make it more favourable for competitive exams.
They are,
1) COMMON NOUN
2) PROPER NOUN
3) COLLECTIVE NOUN
4) ABSTRACT NOUN
5) MATERIAL NOUN
These five make noun understandable and define completely what is noun? And how can a noun find easily to the students.

First is COMMON NOUN, mostly students confused to find common noun but this descriptions make them comfortable to about common noun.
Everything is called common noun that is easily found and can change itself from one to many.
Look at the example,

Table, tables
Boy, boys
Bag, bags
Girl, girls
When common noun change itself from one to many, it has own set up rules to change.
Let's know about them,
A) ES added in the last when a noun ended ( O, Ch, SS, S)
Ex:- mango, mangoes
Match, matches
Bench, benches
Class, classes
Glass, glasses
Bus, buses
B) IES added in the last when a noun ended with (y) but it has exception rule which we have to know it.
If (y) ended in the last and just before y consonants comes then (y) change itself into i and then add es.
Ex:- city, cities
Baby, babies
Enemy, enemies
Lady, ladies
Country, countries
Dictionary, dictionaries
Now, the exception rule
If (y) comes in the last and just before the (y) vowels comes then (y) will not change itself into (ies) instead of (ies) only (s) added in the last.

Donkey, donkeys
Way, ways
C) VES added in the last when noun ended F OR FE.
Ex:- wife, wives
Knife, knives
Leaf, leaves

But some nouns can not change themselves into (VES) only (s) added in the last.
